The station building in Svenshögen was opened in 1907 when Bohusbanan was being expanded. With the lake Hällungen in close vicinity it was a good place for the steam trains to fill up water. Today, it is one of the oldest buildings in the small rural town of Svenshögen and a central place from where many people commute to and from school, work and spare time activities.
Til the 1980s the station building functioned as the home for railway employees and waiting room for passengers. Since then the building has been used for a variety of things; grocery store, pizzeria and youth center. But in 2017, when Christian Kleinhenz and Camilla Johansson Bäcklund bought the building it had been out of use for many years. The new owners plans were to sace the building from futher damage and to open up a meeting place in Svenshögen with focus on art.
